On Saturday evening, Sept. 30, TEXRail experienced an unexpected gate crossing malfunction at Holiday Lane. The train crew immediately reported the crossing malfunction to the dispatcher, who placed a temporary train speed restriction at the crossing and mandated horn blowing per federal regulations.

TEXRail personnel performed diagnostics to evaluate the crossing and monitored the crossing for 24 hours to ensure reliable operations. The temporary speed restriction and horn-blowing requirement was lifted at 6:30 a.m. today (Oct. 2).

To accommodate scheduled network upgrades, TEXRail will have a brief service disruption in the early hours on Monday, Sept. 25. Regular service will resume at 3:20 a.m. Monday.

Schedule adjustments

• Train #280, which leaves Fort Worth T&P Station at 12:43 a.m., will terminate at North Side Station.
• Train #181, which leaves DFW Airport Terminal B Station at 2:10 a.m., will not operate.

Trinity Metro has named Reed Lanham as the agency’s new Vice President of Rail. In this capacity, he will put new programs into place to elevate the quality, reliability and consistency of Trinity Railway Express and TEXRail services.

Lanham, who was selected following a competitive national search, joined Trinity Metro in 2015. He has held a variety of leadership roles in rail, most recently as Deputy Vice President of Rail. During his tenure, Lanham played a key role in the start-up of TEXRail and successfully led Trinity Metro’s implementation of positive train control on both Trinity Railway Express and TEXRail. For the last four years, he has overseen TEXRail operations and he brings 16 years of commuter rail experience to the position.

 

 

(FORT WORTH, TEXAS) Sept. 18, 2023 – The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) recently completed its triennial review of Trinity Metro – and the results couldn’t be better. The triennial review focused on Trinity Metro’s compliance in 23 areas. No deficiencies were found with the FTA requirements in any of these areas.

“During our review of Fort Worth Transportation Authority [dba Trinity Metro], the FTA transit recipient demonstrated best practices in the following areas: Maintenance, Procurement & Financial Management and Capacity,” said Ketnah Parchment, one of the reviewers. “It was a pleasure working with a team of professionals who implements the FTA CORTAP [Comprehensive Oversight Review and Technical Assistance Program] requirements in an exemplary manner. Congratulations on a review with no findings/deficiencies.”

The months-long process occurs every three years and ensures that transit agencies are adhering to regulations and making any necessary improvements. Positive results are essential because they are tied to future eligibility for federal funding.

(FORT WORTH, TEXAS) Sept. 14, 2023 – The Lancaster T&P Passage Project construction began on Sept. 5, 2023. The $1.75M project, funded by the City of Fort Worth’s Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone District Eight (TIF 8), will create a more formal arrival and departure experience and guide TEXRail and TRE riders between the T&P Terminal Platform and Downtown Fort Worth.

“As more than $1B in construction is about to transform the south end of Downtown, improving the ease of access to the T&P Station commuter rail passenger platform is especially timely,” said District 9 City Councilwoman Elizabeth Beck, Chair of TIF 8.

The design team includes the Fain Group, Kimley-Horn, and RSM. This team was selected by a panel of Downtown residents, City of Fort Worth staff, Downtown Design Review Committee members, and DFWI staff.

“The route from Lancaster Avenue to the platform and vice versa will be much clearer and will elevate the rider’s sense of arrival to Fort Worth,” said Trinity Metro CEO Rich Andreski. “This design uses signage, graphics, historic exhibits, landscaping, and light to enhance the route between Downtown and the passenger platform, making travel by rail an even more attractive travel option.” 

Key elements of the $1.75M project include:

• A landscaped and illuminated plaza extending from the Lancaster Avenue sidewalk to the T&P Building front entrance lobby
• Monumental signage identifying the T&P Terminal passage
• Wayfinding signage to and from Lancaster Avenue and the T&P Station passenger platform
• Exhibits and graphic art displays that celebrate the T&P Terminal’s role in Fort Worth’s history
